Math Teams Make Memorial Proud

Memorial Junior High School sent five math teams to Hawken for a (GCCTM) Greater Cleveland Council of Teachers of Mathematics tournament this past Saturday, and our students from SEL did not disappoint.  This competition will challenge the top mathematical minds. It has four rounds of challenges which include multi-step problems, mental math, and real life math drama.

The seventh grade team of Andrew Schlegel, Matthew Kendig, and Nathan Eckman received the highest award possible; and the team of Gianni Fitch, Sean Pierce, and Arthur Franklin placed second!

Our eighth grade teams also fared well and received awards. They were mathematicians: Emily Drenen, Sloane Boukobza, James Fortunato, Xavier McCreary, Spencer Presley, Amiya Weaver, Alex Pham, Jacob Yamine, and Alyssa Weigand.

Our students consistently perform well when competing in these academic events and we can take pride in knowing we have some of the finest students in the area.
