Rowland Acts on Word of Month, ‘Cooperation,’ with Shoe Drive

Rowland Elementary School’s Word of the Month is ‘COOPERATION,’ and as a way to help further the meaning of this guidance lesson, students, staff and parents were recently asked to work together to donate shoes to The Orphanage of Hope and Samaritan’s Purse in Port Au Prince, Haiti. This fun exercise was meant to foster a cooperative spirit among all participants involved while demonstrating in an actual and visible sense, the meaning of the Word of the Month. In addition to the class with the most shoes winning a pizza party, each classroom’s goal was to get 100% COOPERATION, or participation. In total, Team Rowland worked together to donate over 1,600 pairs of shoes for this particular shoe drive. Special thanks to Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Welchan’s for organizing the shoes to be shipped. Great job, Team Rowland, and thank you for coming together for such a worthy cause.
