Brush Recognizes Seven Seniors at National Signing Day Event

Brush High School recognized seven seniors who will be continuing their education and participating in a collegiate sport next school year in a National Signing Day ceremony on Wednesday, April 13th in the Performing Arts Center. Athletic Director Mike Murphy introduced each senior, thanking all family members and friends in attendance for helping each student to be successful and reach the next level of their academic and athletic careers. Several coaches provided brief remarks for their respective players, including Head Football Coach Jeff Fink, Head Bowling Coach Scott Paluscsak and Head Boys Basketball Coach Chet Mason. Joined onstage by parents and family members, the following students officially signed a letter of intent to participate in athletics at the college or university level during the 2016-2017 school year:

Brandon Parks                Boys Basketball      Heidelberg University (Tiffin, OH)
A member of the Boys Basketball program for the past two years, Brandon was honored with the Roland Cunningham award this past season for displaying strong character and leadership.

Robert Bearden, Jr.        Boys Basketball      Sinclair Community College (Dayton, OH)
Robert was the recipient of several awards during his time at Brush, including Honorable Mention – District Level and 1st Team honors for the Western Reserve Conference.

Clayton Eason                 Boys Bowling         Notre Dame College (South Euclid, OH)
The first in school history to be a four-time district qualifier in Boy’s Bowling, Clayton’s impressive bowling career also included winning the 2016 OHSAA Division I Sectional Tournament at Wickliffe Lanes, while finishing as a four-year letter winner.

Sarah May Famadico     Girls Bowling          Ursuline College (Pepper Pike, OH)
A four-year letter winner, Sarah May was a major contributor in helping the Arcs earn a trip to the District tournament for the first time in school history. She plans on studying Nursing at Ursuline College.

Aleya Hooker                   Girls Tennis            Tiffin University
Despite only playing for one year, Aleya’s athleticism and impressive accomplishments on the tennis court earned her an offer to continue her education and playing career at Tiffin University next fall.

Tre Chane Shanklin        Football                  Mesabi Range College (Virginia, MN)
A letter winner for the past two years, Tre Chane anchored the offensive and defensive lines on the gridiron for the Arcs, earning him a selection to play in the News-Herald Senior Bowl.

Austin Scott                      Football                  Alderson Broaddus (Philippi, WV)
A three-sport letter winner in football, track and basketball, Austin finished the 2015 football season with 774 yards of total offense and 11 touchdowns. He plans on majoring in Sports Medicine.
