Adrian Elementary School Recipient of Books Through Focused Grant Writing Efforts

Adrian Elementary School Learning Resource teacher Catherine Stang has made a mission of ensuring that each and every student has their own personal library for their reading and literary growth. In the process, thousands upon thousands of books have been obtained through Ms. Stang’s diligence in applying to various grant making foundations for either the funds to purchase books or actual reading material itself. Her most recent effort resulted in 5,000 books being obtained from First Book, with help from Disney, just before the holiday season. You can watch a video of the gratitude expressed by Adrian students who were recently supplied with books by clicking here. Mrs. Stang has written an astonishing 20 grants this school year alone, and even more impressive, has won 19 of them. More than 13,000 books have been received this year for a total value of more than $153,000. Adrian partnerships with Mayfield United Methodist Church and Legacy Village have resulted in more than $6,000 in shipping costs being donated. The SEL Schools would like to thank Ms. Stang and all of our partners for their dedication to ensuring that our students grow in their reading and literary development.
