7th Graders Go To Court

The seventh graders at Memorial were on the right side of the law this week as they performed their mock trial called Hazing. The defense team had to defend Jack Robinson played by Isaac Alexander who was accused in the death of a classmate Brian Stone after a club initiation went terribly wrong. The trial was performed at the South Euclid court house with the help of Judge Gayle Williams-Byers. She had a candid discussion with our students and also allowed them to sit in on some arraignments.

Who won the case you might ask? It was largely a victory for the defense team, Gianni Fitch and Luke Campbell. The prosecution team of Matthew Kendig and Andrew Schlegel could not get the charges of manslaughter and gross criminal negligence to stick. Witnesses played by Nathan Eckman, Sean Pierce, Jamel Jones, Sloane Boukubza, Arthur Franklin, and others did an outstanding job.
