5th Graders Display Creativity at Science Invention Convention

The cafeteria at Greenview Upper Elementary was full of excitement during the afternoon on Tuesday, May 27th, as 5th grade students from Team Rome and Team L.A. participated in the Science Invention Convention. The project is based on the T.V. show Shark Tank, and provides students the opportunity to create their own unique invention and ‘pitch’ their new idea to others. The project also integrates the subject areas of language arts and science, as it requires students to write a summary about their invention. During the event, students from Team L.A. and Team Rome stood in front of their inventions at each table. Parents and students from the other two teams entered the cafeteria, visiting each table and asking students questions about their invention, specifically how it worked and the benefits it provided.

Approximately six students received awards for their inventions. TaNiyah Chaney, Terrell Reddix and Olivia Hamilton received an award for Product Most Likely to Buy, while Jaylin Glenn, Nick Leonetti and Katie Ferrante received the Most Creative award for their inventions. The South Euclid-Lyndhurst Schools wish to congratulate all of the students for a job well done, as well as thank the 5th Grade Teachers for organizing and helping to make the Science Invention Convention a success!
