8th Graders Recognized at Awards Assembly

Parents and friends filled the New Gymnasium at Memorial Junior High School on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, to recognize the achievements of the eighth grade class. The theme for this year’s ceremony was “Challenges Mastered Are Opportunities Won”, and the future class of 2019 certainly exemplified this theme as they were recognized for various accomplishments during their time at Memorial Junior High. In her opening remarks, Principal Kathybel Ortiz praised the eighth grade class for their hard work and dedication, and urged them to make good decisions in the future to build positive character. Class speakers Elizabeth Farren and Kareem King both shared their pride in being a part of the Class of 2019, and encouraged their classmates to face the challenges that lie ahead during the next four years.

After the presentation of certificates to the entire eighth grade class, staff members presented awards in several different categories. This included the Perseverance Award, which was given to Jasmyn Franks, who overcame many obstacles this year to earn Merit Roll distinction. Julia Kiefer, Jenna Perry, Teya Leblanc-Hill and Rebecca Rossi earned the 4.0 G.P.A. Achievement Award for their outstanding academic accomplishments.

We congratulate the future class of 2019 for their accomplishments over the past two years, and wish them continued success as they face new challenges and opportunities at Brush High School!
