MAC Jewels Visit Ursuline College
MAC Jewels Visit Ursuline College

Members of MAC Jewels at Memorial Junior High had the unique opportunity to visit the campus of Ursuline College on Saturday, April 18th. The visit provided the female students a chance to experience the atmosphere of a real college campus, while providing an opportunity to begin the planning process for pursuing a higher education. In addition to learning about the history of Ursuline College, students obtained helpful information regarding financial aid, campus life, tuition and more. The students were also provided a tour of the campus, which included a visit to some of the classrooms and dormitories.

At the conclusion of the tour, teacher Michelle Webster had the students sit in a quiet area on the campus grounds, and gave them an opportunity to share what they experienced on their visit to Ursuline. All of the students expressed excitement about the opportunity to visit a real college campus, with some of them even sharing a desire to attend Ursuline College after graduation! The students also engaged in a discussion about what academic courses they intended to take when they attend college. The campus visit at Ursuline College greatly embodies the mission of the MAC (Minority Achievement Committee) Jewels group, which seeks to empower young women by promoting and developing leadership skills. Group members must possess demonstrated leadership ability and high academic standing.

Thank you to Michelle Webster for organizing and leading this wonderful educational opportunity, and congratulations to all of the members of MAC Jewels for demonstrating a commitment to pursuing academic excellence both now and in the future!
