Brush Robotics Team Visits Senior Citizens for Interactive Presentation

Members of the Charles F. Brush High School Robotics team recently visited with Senior Citizens of the community at the Lyndhurst Community Center to showcase their award winning skills. Led by advisor Pat Checkel, members of the team took a field trip to the community center and delivered a near one-hour presentation that included an introduction of themselves, a demonstration on some of the actual robots the team has constructed and then prepared a live demonstration with the seniors. Controlled remotely, the Robotics team led their robotic vehicles into the audience and even permitted the senior citizens to control the devices themselves. At the end of the presentation, students pretended to be robots while senior citizens gave them specific movement commands to simulate the process they are involved with in programming the robots. The intergenerational event was a positive experience for senior citizens to engage with an award-winning, student led team in the SEL Schools. Thank you to the Community Partnership on Aging for their help in the process.
