Memorial Staff Reward Students for Being Accountable with Lunchtime Dance-Off
With the start of the 2016-2017 school year, Principal Dominick Kaple and the rest of the staff at Memorial Junior High came up with a creative way to promote a positive culture within the school building. “Accountability” was selected as the keyword for the school year as a way to encourage students to treat staff, school facilities as well as each other with respect. With the collaboration of staff, students and parents, being held accountable throughout the entire year will be a joint effort.

To reinforce students on following through and being accountable, Memorial staff will provide students with a fun reward activity on most Fridays throughout the school year. On Friday, August 26th, students had an exciting opportunity to participate in a dance-off at the front of the cafeteria to a song of their choice during each lunch period. The reward activity was led by Mr. Morris Ervin, who has been working to create a positive culture at Memorial through mentoring individual students and student groups. Overall, students have responded very positively to the reward activities and are eager to participate in being held accountable. The SEL Schools congratulate the students at Memorial Junior High for demonstrating ‘Arc Pride’ through being accountable and encourage them to keep up the great work!
