Brush Bowling Club Wins Conference Championship

The Brush Bowling club had overwhelming success in their second season. The team compiled an outstanding 16-3 record and a conference championship! At one point during the season, the team won 10 straight matches and never lost more than one in a row. The team also defended their home lanes by not losing a single match finishing 10-0. Some of the individual highlights include Anthony Miozzi bowling games of 248 and 246 in the same match. Russell Miller threw a season high 287, a game which included 10 strikes in a row. Russell's 287 holds the 2nd highest score in school history, behind only Anthony Miozzi's 290 the previous year. While bowling the Baker games against Wickliffe, the team had games of 220 and 234. The Baker system is where all five bowlers bowl for one score, with each bowler rolling two frames. The team also improved in the sectional tournament this season. Last year, out of 16 teams, Brush finished 11th. Last Thursday against 17 teams the Arcs finished 7th. Russell Miller bowled extremely well at sectionals finishing in the top four and moved on to the District tournament with a chance to reach the State Finals. Russell is the first bowler to qualify for the district tournament for Brush.

The JV squad also tasted the same success as the Varsity club by finishing with a 7-4 record. Coach Skufca led the JV team and the improvement from beginning of the year to end was very noticeable.

Congratulations to the JV and Varsity Bowling Clubs!
