Greenview 6th Grader Takes 1st Place in National Contest
Yuriy Glukhov, a sixth grader at Greenview Upper Elementary School, is the national champion for First in Math. He competed against 1.1 million students from across the United States from September 2010 to April 2011. He and the other top point-earning Greenview students were honored at an assembly on May 18 at Greenview.

First in Math is an online teaching math tool that provides comprehensive content in an engaging format. Students work through various math problems and receive immediate feedback. As they complete math questions, they earn points and compete nationally against other students. Glukhov earned 47,514 points and has spent more than 300 hours on First in Math.

Students from two other schools in Northeast Ohio also placed. A student from Bassett Elementary in the Westlake City School District earned 45,430 and placed second. An Orchard Middle School student with Solon City Schools placed ninth and earned 39,742 points.
