October 18-22 Sunview will be celebrating International Walk to School Month (WTS). WTS was developed to: 1) enhance the health of kids, 2) improve air quality and the environment, and 3) create safe school walking or biking routes. Sunview will host a variety of activities, including a poster contest, daily healthy tip announcements, and take-home activity packets. The culminating event will be held on Friday, October 22nd, encouraging all Sunview students to walk to school.
Parents and students may choose to meet at the Brainard Park parking lots at 8:10 am to go on a short walk to school. This will be a festive event, with the children carrying balloons and their handmade posters, and will underscore the goals of WTS. At the finish line, children will receive a prize and healthy snack. This event is sponsored by the City of Lyndhurst, the Sunview PTA and the Greater Cleveland Safe Kids/Safe Communities Coalition led by University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital.
