From the Desk of Stefanie Rhine, SE-L Board President.
On Tuesday October 11th, Dr. Zelei announced his resignation. He will be taking a position with the Ohio Department of Education. We wish Dr. Zelei well in his appointment to ODE and are appreciative of his many years of service to the South Euclid Lyndhurst students, staff and community. We have been working diligently since Tuesday to develop and share information around the expected Transition Plan. While change is never easy, we are confident in the abilities of our staff to continue to do what they do best - provide for the educational needs of our students.
We are prepared to fill his role in a timely manner. Given the initial timeframe we will be looking to hire an interim to finish out the year while we begin the search for a long term replacement. We will be looking to bring in an external candidate to fill the interim position. We believe that this approach will allow for the greatest amount of continuity for the district.
In the meantime if you know of anyone who may be interested in the short term or long term opportunity please feel free to direct those names/contact information to the Board.
Interim Superintendent Search
We will be engaging the organization Finding Leaders to coordinate the search process. We will initially be looking for someone to step in until the end of the year or until we find a long term replacement. We will be focusing on external candidates to fill this immediate role.
Superintendent Search
We will also be using Finding Leaders to coordinate this process. We plan on holding focus groups as early as November/December. We will be meeting with Finding Leaders to lay out the entire process and will update you as we proceed. We fully intend to include all of our stakeholders in the discussion as we move forward.
