Congratulations to Tyler Wynne (Brush 9th grader) and Taylor Wynne (Memorial 7th grader) who participated for the second year in Cuyahoga Community College’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday observation “Celebrate the Dream of a King”.
Taylor and Tyler are both frequent competitors in the Ohio Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratorical Contest. As winning competitors of this competition, both were asked to speak at the Tri-C celebration event last year. After receiving standing ovations from the audience of over 1,000, they were asked back this year. The Wynne children were the only children from Cuyahoga County asked to present their orations this year.
Tyler’s speech was entitled “Loving your Enemies” and Taylor’s was entitled “The Sneeze”. We salute these two young adults for their reaffirmation of the critical role of nonviolence as a peaceful alternative in an increasingly chaotic and violent world.
The event, held on Sunday, January 15, also included performances by Nadanta, Inc. (an award winning dance group), The Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra and featured author, commentator and CNN contributor Roland S. Martin.
