On Tuesday, February 15, award-winning author Sharon Draper spoke to students, staff and community members about the power of books and encouraged the audience to read as a way to open lines of communication between parents and children.

After her speech, Ms. Draper answered questions and signed her autograph on a wall of the Learning Commons, where a quote from one of her books is displayed. She also autographed copies of her books.
