On Tuesday, February 3, seven area schools brought more than 160 students to the Educational Service Center of Cuyahoga County’s “Equations” competition. The event took place at The Harry E. Eastridge Professional Development Center and featured some of the brightest 8-14 year olds in our region.
“Equation” is a very challenging game played in classrooms around the country and teaches students the critical problem-solving abilities needed to recognize and apply fundamental concepts. It creates a rich problem-solving interaction filled with complex strategy, bluffing, and intrigue.
ESC Coordinator of Gifted Services Wayne Gibson said the kids always like to get together with each other and challenge other school districts in this academic competition.
When the competition concluded, South Euclid-Lyndhurst won Third Place Overall. Also, South Euclid-Lyndhurst Team 2 won second place for the 4th and 5th grade division. The team consisted of Ose Arheghan, David Davis, Alex Emmert, Alex Neyman, Peighton Taylor, and Nick Zolikoff.
