Michael Kaplan Competes in State Swimming Championship
On Friday and Saturday Senior Michael Kaplan competed in the State swimming tournament. He swam the 50 and 100 freestyles. Twenty-four swimmers qualify in each event, with the top 16 moving onto finals. In his first race, Michael tied for 16th in the 50 freestyle with a chance to move to finals but, unfortunately, lost his swim-off by .13 one hundredths of a second. This placed him 17th in the state with a time of 21.96 seconds. He also swam the 100 freestyle and again finished 17th; this time by .10 one hundredths of a second with a time of 48.19. Kaplan swam valiantly and competed at the highest level. Ohio is a top five swimming state in the country and Michael's performances rank him among the elite. Congratulations Michael on a great season and representing Brush with dignity and pride.
