From February 14-24, Greenview students participated in the “Yes We Can” fundraising project. Greenview Student Council members helped organized this event to help celebrate Black History Month.
Students were shown a short video on President Obama’s “Yes We Can” speech and learned how they, too, can make a difference by donating to a local charity. Student Council members placed brown paper bags outside of each homeroom to place monetary donations. The team that donated the most was allowed to select which charity would receive the donation. In two weeks, $840 was collected through the “Yes We Can” project and Candy Gram sale. The winning team chose to donate the funds to the Playground of Possibilities.
The money will be presented to Mayor Welo when she visits Greenview on March 22.
