Popular young adult author and Ohio native Sharon Draper will visit the Memorial Junior High School Palermo Library Learning Commons on Tue., Feb. 15, to help celebrate the newly renovated library. She also will visit Charles F. Brush High School on Wed., Feb. 16.
During Draper’s visit to Memorial, she will sign her autograph on a wall in the Learning Commons, where a quote from one of Draper’s books has already been painted. The event will take place at a library dedication open to the public, which begins at 7 p.m. and where she also will give an author’s talk.
Draper also will conduct a reading and writing workshop for select 7th and 8th grade students. Students had to participate in an essay contest to be chosen for the workshop. The school plans to hold student assemblies, and a book signing and sale in the library during the school day.
Draper’s visit to Brush the next day will consist of student assemblies, a reading and writing workshop, and a book signing and sale as well. A meet-and-greet for Brush teachers only will take place after school.
“The District is very honored to have such an accomplished and highly regarded author such as Sharon Draper visit our students, staff and community.
