On February 24th, SEL staff and students had an opportunity to view pre-recorded book readings by our SEL Student Service Team Members and Brush Student Athletes in honor of the National African American Read In. A groundbreaking effort to encourage communities to read together, the National African American Read In features African American books and authors. The annual program was established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month. At the conclusion of the recordings, students engaged in class discussions and were encouraged to continue to view the pre-recorded book readings throughout the year.
