Brush students Sean Pierce, Brune Boukobza and Kiana McClendon ended 2020 with the exciting opportunity to collaborate with Cleveland music legend Michael Stanley on his song “Another New Year’s Eve,” as part of a recent video performance by the Contemporary Youth Orchestra (CYO). The impressive holiday recording was released on December 11^th and is available for viewing online HERE. Featuring students ages 12-18 years old representing 64 Northeast Ohio schools, the CYO is located in residence at the Cuyahoga Community College, Metro Campus, but met virtually this semester due to COVID-19 health precautions. During each weekly rehearsal, the CYO hosted a different guest from the music industry who worked with the students and shared about their personal musical journey and experiences. In addition to the collaboration with Michael Stanley, students gained new knowledge through tutorials by Cleveland’s top professional musicians and gained valuable insight into various music industry careers from professionals working across the country. Through it all, students demonstrated a passionate commitment to learning and mastery of their respective instruments.
