Dear SEL Families,

I hope this communication finds you well and safe. It has certainly been a challenging time. We, as school leaders, have much gratitude for the many who have worked hard and adjusted their lives to make teaching and learning the best it can be, given the circumstances. Your flexibility and patience are greatly appreciated as we adapt and adjust to the conditions caused by the pandemic.

Consistent with the district’s “Responsible Restart Plan,” our goal remains the same; to do what is best to keep our students and staff safe, while providing the best education possible. Due to the current conditions, the number of staff being quarantined, and the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday, beginning on Monday, November 23 through Friday, December 4 we will shift to our remote learning plan. Also, during this time period we will be suspending all athletics and extracurricular activities. Any future updates will come from the athletic department.

Staff have prepared for this situation and student expectations will be the same as they were the first nine weeks of remote instruction. More details about the upcoming two weeks will be sent to you from your child’s building principal on Friday. As of this notice, we will return to in person instruction on Monday, December 7 for those students scheduled for school-based instruction. Those students who have been remote the first semester will remain in the remote learning option.

Grab and Go meals will continue to be available at each school building, details will be forthcoming.

Please know that we are taking this action to protect the health and safety of our students, staff, and families. We appreciate your support and flexibility.

Stay tuned for any additional changes that may come your way.

Sincerely,
Dr. Linda N. Reid
Superintendent
