th grade English Language Arts students at Memorial Junior High are able to interact with assigned readings in new and engaging ways thanks to the recent introduction of Kami, a digital classroom app.
Mrs. Allison Homrock and
Ms. Candice Adams have been guiding students in learning how to use the app’s annotation tools to actively respond to selected texts. With Kami, students are able to highlight, comment, underline, respond to questions, and utilize critical thinking skills while reading. During a recent learning activity, students tracked the development of theme throughout a selected reading passage by marking key details related to the setting, character development, and inferences. A short video capturing parts of the above ELA classroom lesson
can be viewed on Principal Bryan’s Twitter account. The introduction of the Kami app has proven to be a valuable learning tool that is helping students to become more engaged and active readers as they apply classroom knowledge and skills.
