5^th graders at Greenview Middle School have been busy improving their written communication skills while incorporating technology through the creation of opinion papers. Under the direction of 5^th Grade Writing Teacher Kim Thomas, the students began by reading an article titled, “Should Everyone Get a Trophy” from TIME for Kids magazine. After organizing their thoughts and supporting arguments, students went to work on crafting a paper explaining their individual position on the question posed in the article. Each essay featured proper formatting including an introduction, main body, and conclusion, as well as a selected citation of a quote from the article to support their individual arguments. Once completed, some of the students decided to post their papers online in a virtual bulletin board format using the Padlet website platform. Click here to view the students’ awesome work!
