Black History Month Video Essays

back

A group of Greenview Campus students in grades 4-6 had the exciting opportunity to create individual video essays celebrating Black History Month and submit them for consideration to be featured online and during live broadcasts by News 5 Cleveland during the Week of February 22nd! The SEL Schools were one of several Northeast Ohio school districts to be contacted by News 5 Cleveland to participate in the special Black History Month news story. For each 30-second video essay, students explained why Black History Month is important to them or spotlighted a historical or current African American figure and their accomplishments and how their selected figure personally inspired them. Gifted Intervention Specialist Mrs. Gina Arnold provided guidance throughout the entire project. The SEL community can view a few of the students’ impressive video essays from the links below.

During the Week of February 22nd, selected student videos will be televised live daily during the Good Morning Cleveland broadcast starting at 5:00 AM. The videos will also be posted to the News 5 Cleveland website

In addition, the SEL Schools will be sharing the students’ videos during the Week of February 22nd on the District’s Twitter account, @selschools

Congratulations to Livia Wahl, Jeremiah Cleveland, Remelina Yigal, Kylie Marbley, Makenzie Carthon, Carter Carey, Presley Rubenstein, Kayley Monroe, Brooklyn Stewart, Isaiah McClain, Michelle Lorton, and Raia Adams for using their creativity and passion to celebrate Black History Month.
