Exploring Creativity

writing

Brush students in Creative Writing Club had the opportunity to spend a day with Twelve Literary Arts*, participating in creative writing workshops. They shared the day with students from other Cleveland area schools. Students listened to the resident artists share their poetry, and were able to share their own personal poetry with other students participating in the workshops.

Artists from “Twelve” will be conducting workshops with students at Brush HS starting in October. These workshops will be held during the school day twice a week, and will end in an open mic coffee house in November. “Twelve” is also offering students the opportunity to join their fellowship, an after school program at their Glenville location, to further develop their writing skills and performance poetry.

*Twelve Literary Arts is an inter-generational teaching, learning, and professional development incubator for poets, writers, and performance artists who seek a safe space to write in the middle of Cleveland's inner city.  This 501(c)(3) organization supports, develops, and creates a community of writers and performers who share the desire to create literary works with an emphasis on imagination and social justice. The youth and adults of Twelve Literary Arts are inspired to bring poetry and writing to the people.
