Support staff in the SEL Schools serve an essential role in helping students receive the assistance and encouragement necessary to learn and grow every day. On Wednesday, September 23, 2020, Memorial Junior High provided support staff members, including Intervention Specialist Assistants, administrative assistants, building security and AV Library staff, hands-on training with the school’s Makerspace equipment. The training session included tutorials on a laser engraver and table-top CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine led by representatives from Buckeye Educational Systems, while Librarian Lisa Hubler demonstrated how to operate the embroidery machine. Located in the school library, the Memorial Makerspace area provides students the opportunity to solve, innovate and collaborate through project-based learning. Participating support staff were excited to learn more about the various technologies and look forward to applying their knowledge with engaging, hands-on activities for students once they return for in-person learning. Thank-you to everyone who helped to make the recent Makerspace training session a success!
