With the remote learning start to the 2020-21 school year, the dedicated teachers of the SEL Schools are applying their creativity to bring engaging learning activities to students. At Greenview Middle School, Science/STEM teacher, Mrs. Macsurak has been hosting “Lab Thursdays” during which she dresses up as a scientist and guides students in completing science experiments in their own home kitchens! The 5th grade students greatly enjoy the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning activities which recently included “growing a rainbow” using common household materials. During a recent lesson on how light can be refracted when it interacts with an object or moves from one medium to another, Mrs. Macsurak dressed up as a princess and portrayed a character who had been struck by a “refraction curse” that prevented her from seeing her image in a reflecting pool.
