South Euclid Lyndhurst School District News Article

Superintendent's Message -Tuesday, March 31, 2020

a

On Monday (3/30), during his press conference, Governor Mike DeWine extended the school closure period through Friday, May 1, 2020 for all public, private, and charter schools in Ohio. He also made clear the intent of his administration to continue re-evaluating that date over the next thirty (30) days with further updates forthcoming. With this information, our South Euclid Lyndhurst District educators will continue to provide remote learning opportunities as well as other learning opportunities for our students for the extent of this school closure.

Our teachers are excited to welcome our students back from Spring Break. I know that several welcome back videos were made along with welcome back to school activities. Our school environment is going to be very different; however, we have a dedicated staff who are ready and committed to meet this challenge. Our staff has been busy preparing additional instruction for their students through a variety of communication platforms. We have staff members video conferencing, participating in virtual grade level meetings, sharing lesson plan formats, creating YouTube videos, and posting inspirational messages; just a few amazing things happening in SEL! Feel free to email your school administrators and your child’s teachers if you have any questions. If you do have a question but not sure who to ask, go to the district’s home page and click on “How Can We Help?”

Please remember Issue 32, the District's request for new operating and permanent improvement funds is still on the ballot. Ohio lawmakers made a final decision to extend the primary election through April 28th and will be conducted exclusively through vote-by-mail absentee ballots. In order to vote, citizens must first request an absentee ballot from the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections. You can make that request by clicking here. Voters can print this request, fill it out, and return to the Board of Elections. Or, you can request the application form be mailed to you, that you will then mail back to the Board.

Thank you for your continued support of our school community. We hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy during this time.

Stay well,
Linda N. Reid
Superintendent
