BRETT MUNN NAMED BASEBALL COACH

Brett Munn has been named the new Head Baseball Coach at Brush High School.

Munn, 2000 graduate of Newbury High School, just recently finished his seventh season as the Head Coach of Harvey High School. Munn, the 2000 News-Herald Baseball Player of the Year, also received 12 Varsity letters during his high school career.

He was named the Lake County Baseball Coaches Association “Coach of the Year” in 2014. While most recently being selected to coach in the Lake County All-Star game and Northeast Ohio Baseball Coaches Association All-Star game, both in 2016. He was also a featured speaker at the Lake County Baseball Coaches Association Coaches Clinic in 2017. He also has previous experiences as a Varsity Assistant at Newbury (2006) and Beachwood (2009-2010).

Munn is a 2004 graduate of Marietta College. While at Marietta, he was three-time ALL-OAC in football as a defensive back and served as team captain. He also received a Master of Science in Sport Management from Kent State University in 2012.

Athletic Director Mike Murphy said, “During the interview process, it became apparent that Brett has a great sense of organization and detail. He is looking to have the baseball program more involved in the community with youth baseball and service projects.” While at Harvey, Munn led fundraising efforts that allowed the program to travel during Spring Break at the Ripken Experience, he is also credited with starting the junior high school program during his tenure.

Munn is currently a Middle School teacher in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights school District, where he also coaches middle school basketball.

Munn was approved by the school board in December.
