SEL Students Remember Heroism of 9/11

Students across the SEL Schools participated in a variety of activities on Friday, September 11th, in recognition of the twentieth anniversary of one of the most tragic events in our nation’s history, as well as to honor the memory of the individuals who lost their lives that day. Students and staff at Sunview Elementary School showed their patriotic spirit on Friday, September 11th by wearing clothing with red, white, and blue colors. Sunview third-grade teacher Mrs. Kimberly Erwin and her class read the book, Fireboat by Maira Kalman, and discussed heroism, courage, and how individuals worked together to save lives on September 11, 2001. 5th grade students in Miss Kailey Saywell’s classroom watched an engaging webinar about September 11th produced by the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. The students had the opportunity to hear several powerful individual stories and share their own reactions. Thank you to all students and staff for their participation in honoring the sacrifice and heroism on the twentieth anniversary of the events on September 11th, 2001.
