Sunview Read-A-Thon a Success!

Sunview Read a Thon

Congratulations to Sunview Elementary School for successfully completing its annual Read-a-Thon event! Sponsored by the Sunview PTA, the Read-a-Thon encourages students to read and set nightly goals over a one-week period while raising funds to support the school community. From September 12th – 19th, students who registered for the event self-reported reading an impressive total of 18,386 minutes! To help generate excitement about this year’s Read-a-Thon program, students had the opportunity to receive a variety of prizes, recognition over the school PA system, daily themed spirit days, their names posted on a sea animal in the school hallway, and surprise visits from Baby Shark! Individual students who were the top readers and raised the most donations in each class earned the chance to throw a water balloon at Principal Arika Taylor while the top reading classrooms earned extra time on the Super Games inflatables.
Altogether, the Sunview School community donated approximately $15,695 during this year’s Read-a-Thon! The donations will be used to support future student activities and teacher grants. Congratulations, once again to Sunview Elementary for demonstrating a love of literacy and Arc Pride in their school community!
