wells

Throughout the month of February, students across the SEL Schools are observing Black History Month by participating in a variety of creative and engaging learning activities. Classrooms at Rowland Elementary are celebrating Black History Month in an interactive way by learning about important African American individuals, whose pictures line the hallways inside the school. After learning about a specific historical figure from African American history, each class places a post-it note with their teacher’s name to the corresponding picture. Some of the noteworthy figures studied so far include Ruby Bridges, Garrett Morgan, Ida B. Wells, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The students are excited to continue learning about the efforts of so many influential African Americans throughout the year!
