7th Graders attend exciting coding program

Fourteen seventh grade students at Memorial Junior High got an up-close look at computer coding, one of the most in-demand skills of the 21st century workforce during an engaging presentation delivered by Mr. Danny Kim, Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Full Armor Corp, on Wednesday, April 27th. The S.T.E.M. based learning opportunity was made possible through a partnership with Pastor Scott Pugh and Velocity Church. Full Armor Corp has worked with major technology companies, including Microsoft. Throughout the presentation, Mr. Kim modeled and showed students how to code at various levels. Along with several volunteers, Mr. Kim provided individual feedback to students during the learning process. The project-based learning activity culminated with students coding a unique message that will be sent to the International Space Station! Mr. Kim also used the visit as an opportunity to encourage students to pursue their individual goals and stressed that anything is possible if they display dedication and passion for whatever they want to achieve. Mr. Kim shared he hopes that by providing students opportunities such as the coding presentation, it will continue to foster a belief in themselves and their natural curiosity. On behalf of the SEL Schools, thank you to Mr. Danny Kim and Velocity Church for providing our students this exciting learning opportunity!
