Rowland Faces AIR Test with G.R.I.T.

Rowland Students Cheering on

During the month of April, after months of preparation and hard work, third graders across the SEL Schools took the AIR test, a state test which helps measure student progress towards gaining the knowledge and skills listed in Ohio’s Learning Standards. Students at Rowland Elementary celebrated the AIR test with a school-wide celebration. At the beginning of April, Rowland students held up hand-made signs featuring inspirational messages and cheered the third graders to success down the hallway as they prepared to defeat the AIR test. Third graders were encouraged to remember the acronym of G.R.I.T. while preparing for and taking the test. Each letter stands for a specific test taking strategy and mindset to ensure success, including:

G – I will GIVE it my all!
R – I will READ all directions, passages, questions, and answer choices carefully.
I – I Will IDENTIFY what the question is asking.
T – I will TAKE my time and try my best.

At the end of April, the students celebrated defeating the AIR test with a fun basketball game featuring Mr. Cooper’s team versus Mr. Fuller’s team, with Principal Fuller’s team taking home the championship. Way to go, third graders!
