Winters Named Girls Basketball Coach

DEMARRIS WINTERS NAMED GIRLS BASKETBALL HEAD COACH

Demarris Winters has been named the new Girls Basketball Head Coach at Brush High School.

Winters, 1998 graduate of Brush High School, just recently finished his third season as the Head Coach at Richmond Heights High School. In his three seasons at Richmond Heights he finished with a 51-24 record. He also spent three seasons as the Middle School Girls Basketball coach at Richmond Heights.

He was named the 2015 Northeast Lakes All-District Division IV Coach of the Year. He was also named 2015 and 2016 Chagrin Valley Conference Coach of the Year. During his tenure at Richmond Heights, the Spartans reached the Regional tournament in 2015 defeating top-seed Gilmour in the Division III District Final. They advanced this past season to the Division IV District Final before losing to Cornerstone Christian.

During his playing career at Brush, Winters was a two-year letterman, he was named First-Team All-GCC and Second-Team News-Herald All Star. While at Brush, he played for recent Athletic Hall of Famer David Allenick.

Throughout the competitive interview process Winters said his goal was to build a program of athletic and academic excellence by teaching the girls the value of mental toughness and hard work.

Winters inherits a team that finished with a 15-8 record and returns eight letterwinners. The Arcs tip-off the 2016-2017 campaign at Cleveland Heights on November 25 before returning home on November 30 to face district runner-up Mentor.
