Bernie Kosar & University Hospitals Donate PPE

Students and staff at Brush High School will have access to additional personal protective equipment (PPE) to stay safe during the ongoing pandemic thanks to a partnership between Cleveland Browns legend and former NFL quarterback Bernie Kosar and University Hospitals (UH). On Friday, January 15, 2021, Mr. Kosar and Lisa Piazza, Director of UH Sports Medicine, visited Welser Gym to personally deliver a variety of PPE equipment, including neck gaiters and water bottles. A container of donated N95 respirator masks for staff members will be delivered to the school in the near future. Principal Karl Williamson and student representatives from each winter sports team and the football team were present to formally accept the donation. Mr. Kosar delivered an inspiring message to the students, staff, and coaches in attendance, emphasizing the importance of perseverance, learning from failures, preparation, and hard work. Following an engaging Q & A session, students and staff had the opportunity to chat and take photos with Mr. Kosar.

Brush Athletic Trainer and UH employee Tina Thompson was instrumental in arranging this exciting opportunity for the District, which is part of an ongoing initiative by University Hospitals and Bernie Kosar to donate PPE items to all fifty-one area high schools which partner with the health care provider. The South Euclid Lyndhurst Schools would like to express its appreciation and gratitude to Bernie Kosar and University Hospitals for their generous efforts to protect the health and safety of our students and staff.
