Primary Election Update
primary

The SEL Schools would like to update you on the status of the primary election as it relates to Issue 32, the District's request for new operating and permanent improvement funds. Ohio lawmakers made a final decision to extend the primary election through April 28th and it will be conducted exclusively through vote-by-mail absentee ballots. This was approved by the Ohio Legislature and is expected to be signed by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. Here are some important pieces of information that voters should know:

* In order to vote, citizens must first request an absentee ballot from the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections. You can make that request by clicking here. Voters can print this request, fill it out, and return to the Board of Elections. Or, you can request the application form be mailed to you, that you will then mail back to the Board.

* Once the Board of Elections receives your vote-by-mail application, a blank ballot will be mailed to you.

* The completed ballot can be mailed back or dropped off to the board of elections office. It must be postmarked by April 27th to count.

* All vote-by-mail ballots originally cast prior to the original March 17th election day will be counted towards the final outcome.

Only those eligible to vote on the original March 17th Primary Election date are being allowed to cast an absentee through April 28th.

Issue 32 will be decided on this newly finalized vote-by-mail only date of April 28th. Thank you for your patience and flexibility.  We hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy during this time.
