MJH Student Council Shows Generosity
MJH Student Council Shows Generosity
The Memorial Junior High Student Council has been hard at work over the past several weeks. At the end of October, students held their annual pumpkin carving activity, and their pumpkin creations came out great! The collection of carved pumpkins spelled out “Memorial” with 2 lightning bolts on each side and provided a wonderful seasonal decoration in front of the building for students and parents to enjoy upon arrival. A special shout out to Mrs. Lee Heitman in the SEL Transportation Department for cooking up all the pumpkin seeds for the students to try. Such a delicious treat!

Throughout the month of November, the students were focused on giving thanks and giving back to the community. Student Council cut out over 600 leaves and decorated every student’s locker with an inspiring message for them to view in the morning. The students’ smiles that day were so inspiring and up lifting. MJH Student Council also held a friendly homeroom class “Sock Wars” competition. The winning homeroom class received a donut party courtesy of Student Council. The Memorial Junior High School community shattered the initial goal of 500 pairs of socks by donating a total of 952 pairs for the homeless community. This was an all-school effort and a huge shout out and thank you to everyone that participated! The winning homeroom class was Mrs. Schnear’s with 333 pairs of socks! Runners up were Mr. Botella with 282 and Mrs. Wojciechowicz with 103. Way to go! Happy Thanksgiving to all from the MJH Student Council!
