Greenview Debuts New Interactive Playground
image2
Students at Greenview Intermediate School are excited over the recent introduction of Lü, an interactive playground technology in the school gym that will provide new and exciting learning opportunities! Installed on the gym ceiling, Lü features state-of-the-art technology including professional grade projectors, a 3-D camera system, and light and audio system. These technologies work together to provide students engaging learning experiences that combine physical movement with cognitive exercises. To help familiarize students with the new learning technology and promote the importance of making good choices, Principal Corey Russell has started a daily drawing through the end of the school year. Each school day (except Arc Wednesday), every classroom and learning unit teacher selects a student who is following the Greenview Way and delivering a good response within the E+R=O (Event + Response=Outcome) framework, to go down to the gym between 11:20-11:40 a.m. PE Teacher Ms. Sue Drienka uses a hand-held keypad connected to an app to select from a variety of fun activities for the students to participate in. Examples include line dancing and learning games where students throw kickballs at wall projected images such as colored targets, squares involving math problems, and puzzles! The new technology will be made available to students during upcoming summer school classes and beginning with the 2021-22 school year, opportunities will be provided to the entire Greenview Campus within PE classes, PIE and PBIS activities, and SEL Schools community events such as movies and presentations. The introduction of Lü at Greenview Campus was made possible through an initiative launched by Technology Integration Specialist, Mr. Ryan Morton. Stay tuned for updates on how students are learning and staying active through this exciting new technology!
