Yoga Helps K-3 Students Relax and Learn

K-3 students in the SEL Schools are learning helpful relaxation and focus techniques through yoga sessions taught by Mr. Jerome Jackson, an SEL Behavior Support Specialist and member of the Student Services Center. The yoga sessions are connected to ongoing Conscious Discipline program lessons taught by the K-3 counseling staff which emphasize the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle. Conscious Discipline is a building-wide social-emotional learning and classroom management program which includes a focus on breathing techniques to help students calm down when they feel frustrated or angry. Through the yoga sessions, students learn how to concentrate on controlling their own breathing, helping them to feel more relaxed, composed, and ready to learn!
