Playhouse Square Experience at Sunview
Playhouse square
Thanks to the generosity of the Sunview Elementary PTA, students at Sunview were able to experience a one-of-a-kind, visual arts streamed performance by Playhouse Square of classic stories written by award-winning children’s author/illustrator, Eric Carle, on Friday, March 18th. The on-demand streaming package included stage performances of several stories utilizing black lights and creative puppetry, in addition to classroom lessons, pre-recorded Q and A with the cast and crew, and a glimpse of how the puppets enact on-stage. Sunview hosted two assemblies in the gymnasium during which students enjoyed popcorn while watching visual adaptations of classic Eric Carle stories, including The Hungry Caterpillar and Mixed-Up Chameleon. At the conclusion of the performances, students were able to take a picture with a handcrafted six-foot-long caterpillar mounted on cardboard and “feed” the caterpillar with miniature photos of food glued to wooden sticks. A big thank-you to the Sunview PTA for providing our students an unforgettable learning experience!
