Students in the Intro to Creative Writing class at Brush High School were excited to work with published author Isaiah Hunt who is currently a Hopkins Fellow at John Carroll University. Mr. Hunt, a Cleveland native who earned his MFA at Kent State University, coached students in the art of sparking a story, talked about his own journey as an Afrofuturistic writer, and offered advice as to how students can develop their own work. He stressed the importance of observation, drawing from one's community and personal experience, having fun, and remembering that originality is alive and well.
