First graders in Miss Annie Beck’s classroom at Sunview Elementary School explored STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) concepts through hands-on, interactive activities at Snapology of Cleveland for their spring field trip. Using LEGO® bricks, K'Nex® and other fun building tools, students began their visit by using their creativity to build their own structures. After exploration, students learned about simple machines and explored the concepts of force and motion by working in pairs to create a push car and a rubber band car. Through collaboration, students were able to see how a change in push or pull with the rubber band altered the speed and direction of their cars. The activity concluded with a fun competition to see which car utilized the most force. Students had an amazing time and enjoyed the opportunity to use their imagination while building their STEAM knowledge and skills!
