Be Present Campaign Promotes Daily Attendance
Adrian Students
The South Euclid Lyndhurst Schools recently launched a new initiative, called the BE PRESENT campaign last fall, as an effort to promote on-time, daily school attendance and in response to a national trend of chronic absenteeism among students. First emerging as a Public Service Announcement challenge, students and staff created information that has been shared districtwide. As a way to incentivize daily attendance through the BE PRESENT campaign, prizes were awarded in December, and winners with their families were invited to the December Board of Education meeting. The BE PRESENT campaign will run throughout the entire 2022-2023 school year, and likely beyond, and relies on individual responsibility and family support. Building principals have created a variety of fun and engaging activities to help provide positive reaffirmation of the program. The BE PRESENT campaign initiative underway in the SEL Schools is associated with the organization Attendance Works, a non-profit group that collaborates with schools, states, communications and other organizations to ensure that everyone recognizes that chronic absenteeism to overcome educational inequities.  The South Euclid Lyndhurst Schools is also in the process of creating a network of supportive community partners who value the importance of attendance, engagement, and being in school and on time. Please consider helping the efforts of the South Euclid Lyndhurst Schools to promote on-time, daily attendance in school through the BE PRESENT campaign. Thank you for your continued support.
