Second grade students at Sunview Elementary School enjoyed an interactive winter weather presentation delivered by Fox 8 News Meteorologist Jenn Harcher on Thursday, November 17th. Topics included the types of winter precipitation and how they are affected by the varying temperatures in the atmosphere, types of winter storms, and how lake effect snow is generated. A native of Chardon, OH, Jenn shared how growing up in Northeast Ohio and experiencing the region’s unique weather patterns sparked an interest in studying weather, and ultimately, her decision to pursue a career as a meteorologist. The engaging presentation not only helped students build learning connections to a recent classroom unit on weather but also introduced them to the education, skills, and day to day activities of a meteorologist.
