Munch the Fox Visits Greenview
m
Greenview Campus students were treated to a surprise lunchtime visit from Munch the Fox, the Ohio Department of Education’s food mascot on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. The friendly mascot’s visit was part of the National Farm to School Month celebration and featured apples as the healthy “Crunch Month” snack for students to enjoy. Students were excited to meet Munch the Fox who gave them high-fives and fist bumps at their lunch tables and in the cafeteria line. To help celebrate the benefits of farm to school partnerships and the importance of school lunches to fueling student learning, each student was handed an apple, and after a countdown, joined Munch the Fox in a collective “crunch” by taking a bite out of their apples at the same time! Students were also handed a recipe to make homemade caramel apple dip at home.

The visit was a great way to showcase the district’s Food Service Department and the SEL Schools which was the only district in Ohio to experience this unique educational opportunity. Several representatives from the SEL Schools and food services partner AVI Foodsystems were in attendance, including Karl Williamson, Director of Business Affairs; Carrie Garren, Resident Director; Ann Brizee, Food Service Assistant; Kristen Totino, Registered Dietician; Chris Garbin, Vice President for School Services for AVI; and Stefanie Tuma, District Manager for AVI. The SEL Schools would like to thank the Ohio Department of Education, AVI Foodsystems, and our dedicated food services staff for sponsoring this exciting event and promoting the importance of healthy and nutritious meals.
