The SEL Schools recently partnered with Lyndhurst Childhood Enrichment Center to provide preschool students with a tour of Sunview Elementary School shortly before the end of the 2022-23 school year. The collaboration was an extension of the district’s strategic plan to promote community engagement and was facilitated by Maleeka Bussey, Director of Equity & Engagement, Shannon Carlson, SEL Schools Social Worker and Cathy Stang, SEL Schools retiree and current staff member at Lyndhurst Childhood Enrichment Center. During the visit, preschool students had a chance to learn about the everyday learning experience of kindergarten students in the SEL Schools by visiting several classrooms and meeting with Principal Arika Taylor. Students enjoyed the opportunity to ask questions and become more familiar with a new learning environment as they prepare to transition to kindergarten.
