MJH Student Council Shows School Spirit

Student Council

The Memorial Junior High School Student Council offers students the opportunity to join with fellow peers to plan and engage in activities that promote Arc Pride, as well as make a positive difference in their school and the greater community. Under the leadership of advisor Jen Heitman, Administrative Secretary for Principal, Dr. Fuller, the co-curricular group continues to maintain a high level of student participation as this year’s Student Council features 109 members! During the Week of October 24th, MJH Student Council participated in a dress up Spirit Week celebration which included a different theme for Monday – Wednesday, as there was no school for students from October 27th – 28th due to Parent/Teacher Conferences. For “Pirate Day” on Monday, October 24th, students wore their best pirate outfit. Tuesday, October 25th, featured the “Are you an Angel or a Devil” theme, with students showing their selection by wearing either white clothing and halos or red clothing with horns. On Wednesday, October 26th, students celebrated “Senior Citizens Day” by dressing up like one of their grandparents.

MJH Student Council ended the school week by participating in the annual pumpkin carving activity with members working in teams to carve a specific letter and design into their pumpkin. The students proudly displayed their pumpkins which spelled out “We ??Memorial” along Professor Road for the community to enjoy over the days leading up to Halloween.

With the start of November, MJH Student Council is once again promoting a Sock and Mitten Drive. MJH Homeroom classes will compete during the first three weeks of November to see who brings in the most items with all donations going to local homeless shelters. Stay tuned for updates on this and other holiday season initiatives from the MJH Student Council!
